- Egg case contains 14-16 eggs
II. Behavior and Habitat
- Will place or glue egg cases in areas where young are likely to survive
III. Inspection
- Less common than German and oriental cockroaches
- Nymphs emerge in six weeks and undergo 13 molts in 18 months
- Female can produce an egg case in about one week and can live for a year
- Found in sewer systems, boiler rooms, heated steam tunnels, basements and around pipes and water heaters
- Can co-exist with German cockroaches
- Inspect in areas of warmth and high humidity
- Fecal droppings can be the size of mouse droppings
- Sometimes called "born inebriates" (found around bars or alcohol containers)
